Video counseling sessions are therapy sessions conducted via video format utilizing a secure HIPAA compliant platform. Sessions are conducted remotely utilizing a computer/laptop, therefore eliminating the need for traveling to my offices. This option is particularly helpful for individuals who have medical symptoms that are unpredictable, physical challenges with traveling and/or are caring for a loved one and do not have sufficient time to get to an appointment.
What equipment and/or software is needed for video counseling?
In order to effectively make the most of video counseling sessions, the following is needed: a computer/laptop, webcam, headset/earbuds and a microphone. Individuals will also need an understanding of how to download software and maneuver certain settings so as to optimize video and sound quality. Smartphones are not fully compatible with the video software program I utilize and therefore cannot be used.
Does my insurance pay for video counseling sessions?
Many insurance companies only cover video counseling when it is administered in a medical facility setting like a hospital, rehabilitation center or other types of medical clinics. The settings in which I conduct my video sessions are not considered a facility/clinic and therefore the majority of insurance carriers I contract with will not cover the cost of our video sessions. If you are considering video counseling, you will be responsible for paying for our sessions. If you are solely looking to have your insurance cover the cost of therapy, then we will have to set up an in-person appointment in one of my offices.
What is the fee for video counseling sessions?
Due to lack of overhead costs associated with conducting video sessions, I am able to offer them at a lower fee than the fees I charge for in-office sessions. Video sessions can be conducted in the following time increments for the following fees: 30 minute sessions - $55, 45 minute sessions - $ 70, 60 minute sessions - $90. Payment can be made via credit card.
I live in another State, could I obtain video counseling with Christine?
At this time, various professional organizations encourage therapists to practice within the state(s) they are licensed in so as to ensure the client has access to the best possible care. I am currently licensed to practice in the states of New Jersey and New York. Therefore, if you reside in these states we can certainly proceed with video counseling. If you reside outside of these states, unfortunately, we are not able to work together.
What next steps should I take if I'm interested in setting up a video counseling session?
